A
vertebra is one of the 24 movable bones that make up the
spinal column. They are stacked one on top of the other,
like a column of children’s blocks. A spinal nerve exits the
spinal cord on the right and left sides of each vertebra.
Spinal nerves control and influence the functions of every
cell and tissue of the body. |

A "pinched nerve" is a term
used to describe spinal nerve irritation. While this
terminology offers rich visual imagery, the actual
compression of a spinal nerve is relatively rare. More often
it is used to describe the irritation of a spinal nerve that
is being tractioned, chaffed or inflamed. The most common
cause of pinched nerves is "Vertebral "Subluxation". |

An adjustment at Rusoff
Chiropractic is the application of the smallest kinetic
force possible that is capable of moving a fixated vertebra. |

Pain is no problem in the vast
majority of cases. Occasional a patient will "tense up" just
before a chiropractic adjustment and prevent the bone from
moving. This can cause some stinging, but it is rare. We
recognize the needs of anxious patients by adjusting slowly
and with low force. |

ABSOLUTELY! Recent studies
have rated the safety of chiropractic adjustments to be
between 100 and 400 times safer than taking Ansaids
(Aspirin, Tylenol, Advil etc.). |

No. Each adjustment focuses
upon a specific problem area of the spine. It involves a
controlled, specific adjustment of the vertebra back to its
own, specific "normal". Every program of care is
custom-tailored for the unique problems brought into the
clinic by each individual. |
